Police Seek Information On Assault In Darwin 20 September

Northern Territory Police are calling for information after a taxi driver was assaulted in Leanyer yesterday.

Around 6:50pm, police received reports that a taxi carrying 3 passengers through a bottle shop along Leanyer Drive was refused service.

One of the passengers allegedly assaulted the driver before fleeing the scene on foot.

The driver suffered minor injuries that did not require hospital treatment.

Police deployed to the scene and arrested a 22-year-old man, who remains in custody, expected to be charged later today.

Detectives are urging anyone who witnessed or may have captured the incident on Dashcam footage, who hasn't already done so, to make contact on 131 444 and quote reference P24258434.
