Police Seek Information On Hit And Run In Katherine

Northern Territory Police are calling for public assistance following a serious hit and run incident in Katherine early this morning.

At approximately 2:30am, CCTV operators observed a collision involving a male pedestrian and a vehicle on the Stuart Highway, at the intersection of Giles Street, in Katherine Township.

The pedestrian, a 31-year-old male, was pushing a shopping trolley while attempting to cross the highway when a white Holden Colorado tray back utility, driving outbound, approached. As the vehicle neared, the driver deliberately drove towards the pedestrian, striking him.

The driver fled the scene, and the pedestrian suffered severe injuries. He was initially transported to Katherine Hospital before being transferred to Royal Darwin Hospital for further treatment.

Police are actively seeking the whereabouts of the vehicle involved, a white Holden Colorado with NT registration CE85VO.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or may have dashcam footage from the area at the time is urged to contact police on 131 444 or report anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
