Police seek information over robbery - Bondi Junction

Detectives from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command are appealing for information after a large sum of cash was stolen – then recovered – at Bondi Junction yesterday.

About 5.15pm (Tuesday 5 May 2020), police have been told three men - who were wearing face masks - surrounded another man, who was carrying a tin box, outside a garage on Old South Head Road.

They forced the man into the garage where they took the box before running from the location.

Police patrolling the area have seen three men running down Paul Street and gave chase. As they were pursuing the, one of the men dropped the tin box containing a large amount of cash.

The men got into a stolen Toyota Aurion and were last seen heading the wrong way down Henrietta Street.

A crime scene was established at the garage of Old South Head Road, Bondi Junction, as detectives commenced their inquiries.

The tin box containing the cash was seized and will be forensically examined.

Detectives are keen to speak with the man who had the money-tin stolen, and anyone else who witnessed the incident, or who may have CCTV, that can assist.
