Police Seek Information: Theft Of Firearm At Townsville

Police are seeking urgent public assistance as part of their investigations into the alleged break in and theft of firearms at a Townsville City address early this morning, November 24.

Initial investigations indicate about 3.30am, up to four offenders have arrived in a silver Holden Commodore with false number plates, before proceeding to break into five vehicles parked at a secure apartment complex on Wills Street, including an unmarked police vehicle.

During the incident, offenders have gained access to a police-issued firearm and ammunition, which was secured at that location.

Police say the offenders have stolen a black BMW and left the scene in the vehicle, alongside the original vehicle they arrived in.

Chief Superintendent Graeme Paine says investigators are working quickly to track down the people responsible and recover the stolen firearm.

Anyone with information who can assist with police investigations, is urged to contact police.
