Police Seek Leads on Tennant Creek Car Theft

Northern Territory Police are calling for information in relation to a stolen motor vehicle that subsequently crashed in Tennant Creek yesterday morning.

Around 9.30am on Saturday 31 August, a silver Toyota Hilux was reported stolen from a residential premises in Darwin.

At 8.45am on Sunday 1 September, the vehicle allegedly attended a service station 25km north of Tennant Creek along the Stuart Highway. Three female offenders travelling in the vehicle allegedly stole items from the service station and left without paying for fuel.

A short time later, the stolen motor vehicle was involved in a collision with another vehicle along Paterson Street in Tennant Creek, causing substantial damage to both vehicles.

Emergency services attended and the 36-year-old female driver of the other vehicle was conveyed to Tennant Creek Hospital with minor injuries.

Two female offenders were arrested at the scene. The alleged female driver of the stolen motor vehicle remains outstanding, and investigations are ongoing.
