Police are appealing for public assistance to locate an unknown missing push bike rider in the state's Central West.
About 10.30am yesterday (Sunday 20 October 2024), a man was seen by a member of the public to dismount from a push bike and walk into bushland along the Barrier Highway, approximately 3km east of Wool Track Road, Cobar.
When the bike was seen at the same location about 7am today (Monday 21 October 2024) officers from Central North Police District were contacted.
The man is described as being of possibly Indian Sub-Continental appearance, about 30 old, 170cm, dark complexion with a black beard and moustache.
At the time he was wearing a cycling outfit consisting of a hi-vis yellow vest, long sleeve grey shirt, Lycra pants and orange striped shoes.
The bike is described as a red coloured Shimano Ascent DSS-66.
Police have released an image of the push bike, which will undergo forensic examination.
There are serious concerns for the man's welfare and anyone who maybe aware of his identity is urged to contact Cobar Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
A major air and land search to locate the man will be launched later today.
