Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a man missing after his boat caught fire and sank in the Parramatta River at the weekend.
About 12.15pm on Saturday 11 January 2025, emergency services were called to Rodd Island, off Rodd Point, following reports of a vessel fire.
Officers attached to Burwood Police Area Command and Marine Area Command arrived to find a moored yacht and two attached tender boats/dinghies alight.
Fire and Rescue NSW officers attended and extinguished the blaze; however, the vessel sunk.
Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.
Police have spoken with a witness who reported seeing a man jump from the burning vessel; however, no one has been located.
Police hold concerns for the missing boat owner, Christopher Hudson, aged 52, who was last seen on board a tender boat/dinghy on Wednesday 25 December 2024.
Christopher is described as being of Caucasian appearance, of slim build, about 175cm to 180cm tall, with a shaved head and green eyes.
A police operation continues in the area, with Police Divers examining the damaged vessel, its contents, and the surrounding areas.
