Police Seek Tips in Wollongong Area Assault, Robbery

Police are appealing for information following an assault and robbery in the Illawarra last month.

Officers were told about 11pm on Friday 28 March 2025, a man was walking at the intersection of Queen Street and Shellharbour Road, Warilla, before he was allegedly assaulted and knocked to the ground by two people, before they stole a mobile phone.

Members of the public stopped, with the two people fleeing on foot.

The 61-year-old man returned to his home nearby and contacted police.

Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police Station responded and transported the man to Shellharbour Hospital, where he was treated for facial injuries.

A crime scene was established and an investigation commenced.

Following inquiries, police are releasing images of a man and woman they believe can assist with their inquiries, who were seen near the location.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, 25-35 year old, medium to heavy build, with dark coloured hair. He was last seen wearing a black hat, blue t-shirt, red shorts, and black and white joggers.

The woman is described as Caucasian in appearance, 25-35 year old, thin build with long brown hair. She was last seen wearing a grey coloured singlet, black full length leggings and white joggers.
