Police Seek Tips on Katherine Domestic Violence 14 October

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 68-year-old man in relation to an alleged domestic violence related assault in Katherine.

Around 8:25pm on Saturday 12 October 2024, police arrived at a residential address in Katherine East following a concern for welfare.

On arrival, a 61-year-old female was located with serious injuries following an assault. She was transported by St John Ambulance to Katherine Hospital in a critical condition and has since been airlifted by CareFlight to Royal Darwin Hospital.

It is believed the woman was assaulted sometime on the evening of Friday 11 October by her male partner, who also assaulted a 68-year-old male who attempted to intervene in the assault.

The 68-year-old alleged offender has since been arrested and remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court on 16 October 2024.

Detectives investigating the incident are calling for witnesses who may have seen or heard anything that can assist police with their enquiries. Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, quote reference number NTP2400102920.
