Police Seek Tips on Lorrin Whitehead Disappearance

Detectives from the Moorabool Crime Investigation Unit are appealing for public assistance as part of their ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Bannockburn woman Lorrin Whitehead.

Lorrin was last spotted leaving her home at 4.40pm on Friday, February 8, 2013.

At 4:52 pm, Lorrin was captured on CCTV at a local supermarket in Bannockburn purchasing a bottle of water, a card, and a pen.

Around the same time as her supermarket visit, a witness reported seeing Lorrin enter the driver's seat of a red 4WD in Bannockburn's CBD. This was the last time she was seen by anyone.

Additionally, a second witness reported seeing a red 4WD vehicle parked on the nature strip of Lorrin's property over the weekend of her disappearance. At the time of her disappearance, Lorrin did not own a red 4WD.

Police are appealing for the owner of the red 4WD to come forward as they may be able to assist police with their investigation.

In recent months, detectives have conducted several interviews with members of the community, and they are continuing to explore all possibilities in relation to Lorrin's disappearance.

Lorrin has a medical condition, and it is believed that she left without her medication. Her work phone was also found at her home, which raised further concerns.

Her disappearance was extremely out of character, and since that day there have been no additional sightings of Lorrin, and her bank accounts have remained untouched.

To aid in this effort, police are re-releasing images of Lorrin in hopes they will prompt anyone with knowledge of her whereabouts to come forward.

Lorrin is described as 170 cm tall, with a medium build, brown eyes, and brown hair. She was wearing black pants and a light-coloured shirt with a collar when she was last seen.

If you have any information regarding Lorrin's disappearance, please contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au

Quotes attributable to Detective Acting Sergeant Clive Martella - Moorabool Crime Investigation Unit:

"Lorrin's disappearance remains a deeply concerning case for both investigators and her family.

"Multiple witnesses have reported seeing a red 4WD in the vicinity of Lorrin's property before her disappearance, including one person who believes they saw her getting into this vehicle in the Bannockburn CBD on the afternoon she was last seen.

"Given Lorrin did not own a red 4WD, we are asking the owner of that vehicle to come forward as they may be able to lead us to Lorrin.

"This investigation is very much active, and we are as committed as ever to finding answers for Lorrin's family.

"We also believe there may be others in the community that have information about this vehicle or know something.

"If you remember seeing or hearing something, no matter how small it may seem, we urge you to come forward and speak with local police or contact Crime Stoppers."
