Police are issuing an appeal for witnesses to come forward after a boater's body was located during a search on the Murray River in the state's south last month.
About 7.30pm on Tuesday 14 January 2025, officers from Murray River Police District and officers from Victoria Police responded to reports a 23-year-old man disappeared after falling from a boat near Five Mile boat ramp, Moama.
A multi-agency search commenced involving Murray River Police District, Victoria Police and Marine Rescue NSW.
The search continued to 9.45am on Thursday 16 January 2025, when the body of the 23-year-old man was located south of the Five Mile boat ramp by Victoria Police divers.
Officers from Murray River Police District are undertaking investigations into the circumstances of the incident and are appealing for anyone with information to contact local police.
In particular, it is believed a number of people were on the Victorian side of the Murray River at the time of the incident and who may have witnessed the incident.
