Police Seek Witnesses: Attempted Robbery, Newport

Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery in Newport overnight, July 31.

Emergency services were called at approximately 11.45pm to reports two men, armed with a knife, attempted to steal a Kia Sportage which was parked on a driveway along Brindabella Street.

A resident who was home at the time, a 45-year-old Newport woman, attempted to stop the duo.

She was not physically injured.

The group subsequently left the scene on foot towards Solo Street and Spinnaker Boulevard a short time later.

Detectives are appealing to witnesses who were in the area between 11pm, July 31, and 1.30am, August 1, to come forward.

Anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam vision is also urged to contact police.

Investigations are continuing.
