Nunawading Highway Patrol officers are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Doncaster last night.
It is believed that a blue Subaru wagon collided with a grey Toyota Rav 4 near the intersection of Grasmere Avenue and Georges Road about 8.30pm.
The force of the collision caused the Toyota to spin and then the engine block caught on fire.
The Toyota eventually came to rest on a nature strip.
All parties remained on scene.
The driver of the Toyota and a passenger from the Subaru, both from Doncaster East, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
There were no other injuries.
Investigators are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the incident or the vehicles prior to the collision.
