Police Seek Witnesses in Cairns North Assault

Detectives from Cairns Child Protection Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses following a grievous bodily harm incident in Cairns North on Saturday, October 19.

Initial investigations indicate just after 4pm, a rock was thrown through a train window near the James and Law Street intersection, striking a 5-year-old boy in the head.

The child was taken to Cairns Hospital with serious injuries and is expected to be transported to Townsville Hospital today, October 20, for further treatment.

Police are appealing for witnesses, particularly anyone with relevant vision, to come forward.

Investigations are continuing.
