Police Seek Witnesses in Central Station Incident

Police are appealing for witnesses following an incident at Central Railway Station last week.

About 11:40pm on Thursday 5 September 2024, officers attached to the Police Transport Command were told that a man wearing a costume similar to that worn by characters in the TV series The Squid Game, was on Platform 24

A few minutes later, a train arrived on Platform 24 and the man entered one of the carriages.

Officers entered the carriage and approached the 38-year-old man.

Police will allege the man, was in possession of a knife and advanced towards an officer.

The officer deployed her taser, and the man was arrested without further incident.

There were no injuries to police or passengers.

The man was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital for assessment.

As investigations continue, police area appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed something to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
