Police Seek Witnesses To Assault In Katherine 7 July

Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses to an assault on a worker at a Katherine service station in the early hours of this morning.

About 2:51 am, police received reports that the United service station on Katherine Terrace had been robbed and a staff member assaulted.

It is alleged that a man attempted to leave the store without paying for goods at which time the staff locked the doors in an attempt to stop the thief from leaving.

The staff member was then assaulted by the alleged thief and two other men who were with him at the time.

The group of males were able to pry open the doors and leave the area.

Members of the CCTV team at the Joint Emergency Service Communication Centre identified the group of alleged offenders and were able to track two males, a 17 and 18-year-old, and they were arrested soon after and taken into custody.
