Police Seek Witnesses To Coburg Hit And Run

Fawkner Highway Patrol officers are investigating a hit and run in Coburg on Wednesday, 28 August that has left a pedestrian with serious injuries.

It's understood a 72-year-old woman was crossing Sydney Road at the intersection of Reynard Street around 3.20pm on the green pedestrian light.

A vehicle travelling west on Edward Street turning right onto Sydney Road has struck the pedestrian, causing her to hit the bonnet before being thrown from the vehicle.

The driver did not stop to assist and drove away northbound on Sydney Road.

The victim was taken to hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

Detectives are keen to speak to any witnesses and urge the driver to come forward.
