Police Seek Witnesses To West Gate Freeway Collision

Westgate Highway Patrol officers are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Spotswood yesterday.

It is believed two trucks were travelling on the West Gate Freeway, near the Williamstown Road exit, when they struck a motorcyclist about 4.30pm.

Officers have been told the motorcyclist was attempting to lane filter between the trucks when the collision occurred.

The motorcyclist, a 24-year-old Werribee man, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

One truck driver stopped at the scene, while the other did not.

The second truck was last seen travelling west bound on the freeway.

The collision caused major traffic disruptions in the area for several hours.

Investigators would like to speak to the driver of the truck and are appealing for anyone with dash cam vision, or who witnessed the collision, to contact police.
