Police Shooting In Mulgrave

Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding a police shooting in Mulgrave this morning.

It is alleged a vehicle evaded police overnight and was subsequently intercepted on Police Road near Springvale Road just before 5.30am on Friday, 4 April.

A 29-year-old woman, who was in the car and armed with a firearm, was shot by police after a confrontation occurred.

She has been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening upper body injuries and is currently under police guard.

A 27-year-old Noble Park man was also arrested at the scene.

The exact circumstances of the incident are still to be determined.

An investigation into the matter is underway with oversight by Professional Standards Command, as is standard practice when a police firearm is discharged.
