Police Target Dangerous Driving In Hunter Valley

Police have issued more than 70 infringement notices following a traffic operation in the Hunter Valley last week.

On Friday 12 July 2024, Newcastle-Hunter Highway Patrol - assisted by Hunter Valley Police District, Northern Region, the Dog Unit and Police Rescue - conducted an operation to target anti-social behaviour and dangerous driving near the Cessnock area.

As a result of the operation 103 RBTs were conducted, and 1 RDT, with an alleged positive result for cannabis.

71 infringement notices, 23 defect notifies, and 2 license suspensions were also issued for a range of offences.

Newcastle-Hunter Highway Patrol Acting Inspector Glenn Swift said he encouraged people to enjoy their vehicles but warned drivers to be safe on NSW roads.

"Reckless driving and dangerous vehicles on our roads will not be tolerated," A/Insp Swift emphasised.

"We will continue to conduct operations aimed at targeting those who endanger public safety."
