Capricornia District investigators, with the assistance of General Duties officers, Police Liaison Officers, Dog Squad, and specialist units from the Crime Intelligence Command (CIC) have seized 24 stolen and unregistered weapons over the past four days as part of Operation Whiskey Legion.
Since Wednesday, weapons licensing and specialist firearms investigators have focused on conducting weapons audits of private dwellings and businesses relating to firearms storage.
A man has been charged following investigations into two alleged break and enter incidents last week.
A crime scene warrant was declared at a Koongal address following investigations into two break and enter incidents at Moranbah and Middlemount.
It will be alleged the man stole six firearms and a quantity of ammunition had been stolen from a Moranbah address on October 17.
It will be further alleged the man stole a Toyota Landcruiser utility vehicle was also stolen from a Middlemount address on October 16.
The Landcruiser and several firearms were recovered throughout the search warrant and four people were taken into custody at the scene.
A 35-year-old North Rockhampton man has been charged with 24 offences, including six counts each of enter dwelling and commit, and receiving tainted property, three counts of possessing dangerous drugs, two counts of stealing, and one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, driving of a motor vehicle without a license, wilful damage, authority required to possess explosives, unlawful possession of weapons, possessing tainted property, and possessing utensils.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to reappear before Rockhampton Magistrates Court today, October 22.
In Yeppoon, a 21-year-old North Rockhampton man has been charged following investigations into a burglary over the weekend.
It will be alleged that two firearms were stolen from a property at Yeppoon.
An investigative warrant was issued and the two firearms were seized at a Yeppoon address.
A 21-year-old man has been charged with two counts each of attempted unlawful entry of vehicle for committing indictable offence at night, and contravention of domestic violence order (aggravated offence), and one count each of attempted enter dwelling with intent, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing utensils, and possessing tainted property.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to reappear before Rockhampton Magistrates Court today, October 22.
Since Operation Whiskey Legion commenced in Capricornia last Wednesday, October 16, 256 people have been charged on 534 offences. Investigations are continuing.
