Police Target Organised Hooning Events In Logan

Logan District Police have charged several men after conducting a successful operation targeting hooning activities in the region over the weekend.

A group of around 20 vehicles were first seen at Mercantile Drive in Park Ridge, with most occupants attempting to conceal their identities.

The group expanded in numbers and travelled from Logan down the Mount Lindsay Highway to Rocklea.

Inspector Glenn Ryder from the Logan Police District said the large group engaged in alleged dangerous driving behaviours, placing members of the public at significant risk of injury.

"A Falcon sedan with its roof cut off was witnessed being used for skidding with four to five occupants. This modification posed significant safety risks, leading us to prioritise its intervention.

Police attended a location at Grindle Road, dispersing the group and spectators.

The presence of police continued with officers on the ground monitoring their movements.

The modified Ford sedan was abandoned in Marsden and the driver was apprehended and taken into custody at a Logan address.

Another vehicle involved in skidding was also located and towed.

"We were able to detect and disrupt the hooning activities effectively while keeping the community safe," said Inspector Ryder.

"The operation was deemed a success due to the collective efforts of multiple districts."

Police will continue additional measures and intelligence driven deployment to deter further hooning activities.
