Police Treating Fires As Suspicious, Stanthorpe

A crime scene has been established following two suspicious fires at a tobacconist in Stanthorpe.

Police and emergency services were called around 2.36am today, January 28, to reports of flames coming from the Maryland Street business.

No one was injured and the fire was quickly extinguished, however the premises has been extensively damaged.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.

This will include the circumstances of an incident around 4am on January 26 at the same business.

In this instance, the fire self-extinguished prior to emergency services arrival and no one was injured.

Any witnesses, or anyone with relevant dashcam or CCTV vision is urged to contact police.
