Police update 1: Death investigation at Preston

Detectives from the Gatton Criminal Investigation Branch investigating the death of a 28-year-old Toowoomba man in early January have determined his death to be non-suspicious however police today charged a woman with interfering with a corpse.

The man's body was located in bushland at Preston on January 7 with police alleging his body had been moved from a private residence in Toowoomba to this location either late on the 5th or early on January 6 (Tuesday - Wednesday).

A 36-year-old Glenvale woman has been denied police bail and remains in custody to appear before the Toowoomba Magistrates Court tomorrow (March 17) on one count of interfering with a corpse and 13 counts of supplying a dangerous drug.

Police believe additional people were involved and are encouraging them to come forward. Anyone with information is urged to contact police (details below).

Detectives are investigating following the discovery of a man's body in bushland at Preston, south of Toowoomba today.

Shortly before 9am, two tourists discovered the man's body near Preston-Boundary Road and called police.

The man has since been identified as a 28-year-old Toowoomba man.

A crime scene has been declared with investigators and scientific officers in attendance.

An investigation centre has been established at the Gatton Police Station.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area or who may have any information to come forward.
