Police Update 1: Manslaughter Charges At Brooloo

Police have charged a man following a homicide investigation at Brooloo yesterday, May 26.

Police were called to Callemonda Road and Mary Valley Road around 2pm to reports a Suzuki Kizashi allegedly crashed into a tree.

Two passengers, an 83-year-old Kandanga man and an 85-year-old Gympie woman, were declared deceased at the scene.

The driver, a 61-year-old Valdora man, has been charged with two counts of manslaughter.

He remains under guard in Sunshine Coast University Hospital with serious injuries and is expected to appear in Gympie Magistrates Court by way of bedside hearing today, May 27.

Investigators continue to appeal to anyone who may have relevant information leading up to the crash or dashcam footage to come forward.

Investigations are ongoing.
