Police Update 1: Marine Incident At Cairns

Water Police have charged a 50-year-old man Trinity Beach man following a marine incident at the Trinity Inlet on Sunday, September 1.

It will be alleged at around 11am, a commercial jetboat struck a 4.6m aluminium boat on the south eastern side of Admiralty Island opposite the entrance of Redbank Creek.

The three people on the 4.6m aluminium boat, sustained minor injuries.

The 50-year-old man was charged with one count of dangerous operation of a vessel.

He was issued a Notice to Appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on October 21.

It is further alleged the man tested positive to an initial drug test, however this result is subject to further testing.

Investigations are ongoing.
