Police have located the bodies of two people following an extensive search and rescue operation in Croydon this week.
Emergency services were notified on Monday, November 11, when a 65-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman were reported missing after they failed to return to their vehicle.
It is understood the pair left to go prospecting at Esmeralda Station on November 10.
Police launched a land and air search, with assistance from Rescue 510, State Emergency Services volunteers, the Stock Squad, general duties officers on horses and motorbikes, as well as nearby mustering helicopters.
The man and woman were sadly located deceased by a helicopter around 5pm yesterday, November 13, approximately 2.5km from their vehicle, which was parked at a caravan park on Aldridge Street, Croydon.
"Police conducted an extensive land and air search over the remote area which sadly resulted in locating the pair deceased," Search and Rescue Coordinator, Sergeant Winfried Weiss, said.
