Police are appealing for information in relation to the actions of the alleged offender prior to the wounding incident in Yamanto on Monday afternoon, January 13.
It is understood the 13-year-old boy charged with attempted murder may have been walking along the Cunningham Highway between Ripley and the Yamanto exit prior to the incident between 1pm and 2:30pm on this date.
To assist investigations, detectives would like to speak to anyone who may have observed him, has dashcam footage or had any interaction with the boy.
Earlier: Detectives have charged a teenager following a wounding incident at Yamanto late yesterday afternoon, January 13.
Around 5.22pm, a 13-year-old boy allegedly approached a staff member at a supermarket near Warwick Road and stabbed her with a knife.
It will be further alleged the boy fled the scene before he was detained by members of the public nearby a short time later.
First aid was rendered to the woman by attending police crews before she was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, where it understood she remains in a critical condition.
A 13-year-old boy was taken into custody and has been charged with attempt to murder.
He is due to appear before Ipswich Childrens Court today, January 14.
