Police Update 2: Homicide Investigation, Garbutt

Detectives from Townsville Criminal Investigative Branch and the Homicide Investigation Unit have launched Operation Whiskey Elmhurst as investigations continue into the homicide of a 47-year-old Garbutt woman.

A command centre has been established in Townsville and significant resources have been allocated to investigate all possible circumstances leading up to the incident, locate and arrest the person(s) involved and provide answers for the family.

Investigations to date have indicated a significant incident which resulted in the woman's death occurred around October 30. Police discovered the woman's body after receiving a call for a welfare check on November 4.

Police are urging anyone with CCTV on the following streets between 1am and 3:30am on October 31, to come forward.

  • Brighton Street
  • Bristol Street
  • McDonald Street
  • Mooney Street
  • Begg Street
  • Tippett Street
  • Devon Street
  • Stafford Street
  • Palmerston Street
  • Hammett Street
  • Noongah Street
  • Maroong Street
  • Iluka Street
  • Nyora Street
  • Bayswater Road
  • Dalrymple Service Road

Officers are particularly interested in any vision from businesses in residences that captures a person walking on the road, or pathways.

Additionally, anyone who may have been in the vicinity of Mount View Plaza and Bamford Lane in Kirwan around 10.50am on November 3 and between 9.30am and 11.45am on November 4 is urged to come forward.
