Police Update 2: Operation Uniform Azacca, Mornington

Specialist detectives and detectives from the Mount Isa Criminal Investigation Branch have released vision in relation to a fatal hit and run traffic crash in Mornington, as part of investigations during Operation Whiskey Legion's deployment to Mount Isa.

The renewed appeal comes almost two years after Operation Uniform Azacca was launched, to investigate the suspicious death of Jason Dick.

Around 1am on Saturday, November 5 2022, an unknown vehicle was travelling along Moore Crescent, Mornington when it struck the 30-year-old as he was walking home.

He sustained significant injuries as a result and sadly passed away at the scene.

Jason was a valued and dedicated member of the council's parks and gardens department, having worked there for more than 15 years.

The vehicle and its occupants did not remain at the scene or call emergency services.

Officers from the Mount Isa Criminal Investigation Branch have continued investigations since 2022, however no one has been charged.

The dark-coloured utility was seen travelling on Transmission Street turning into McNamara Street, Mornington just after 1am on November 5.

Police have released CCTV of the vehicle in hopes of identifying the driver and are appealing for anyone with information or further relevant vision to come forward.
