Police Update 2: Suspicious Death Appeal At Mackay

Detectives have released new vision in an ongoing appeal for information following the suspicious death of a 67-year-old Mackay man in November last year.

John Patrick Hackett was located at his unit on Gold Street at Mackay around 7.18pm on Saturday, November 9 following a welfare check by family members.

A crime scene was declared, and police launched Operation Whiskey Glen, a homicide investigation, after receiving additional information including results from a postmortem examination indicating evidence of an assault.

Investigators have released vision of John Patrick Hackett at a Nebo Road Mackay hotel on Wednesday November 6, 2024.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have interacted with or spoken to John Patrick Hackett at this location.
