Police Update 2: Upgraded Murder Charges, Acacia Ridge

A 17-year-old Acacia Ridge boy has had his charge upgraded to murder following an alleged fatal stabbing in Acacia Ridge on May 17.

It will be alleged the boy was involved in an altercation with a 19-year-old Acacia Ridge man outside an address on Gregory Street around 2.30pm.

The 17-year-old boy allegedly produced a knife and stabbed the 19-year-old man multiple times.

The 19-year-old man was initially transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition, however he succumbed to his injuries and passed away in hospital on June 18.

At the time, the 17-year-old Acacia Ridge boy was charged with one count each of attempted murder, threatening violence, and possession of a knife in a public space.

His charge was upgraded to murder at Richlands Childrens Court today, July 11.

He is due to appear next at Richlands Childrens Court on August 29.
