A 53-year-old man has been charged following the death of a 47-year-old woman in Garbutt on October 30.
Police were called to an address on Chandler Street around 1.45pm on November 4, in relation to a welfare check.
Upon arrival, emergency services located the woman deceased with a stab wound to her chest.
A crime scene was declared, and Operation Whiskey Elmhurst was launched.
Following extensive investigations, police charged a man on December 2.
Police will allege the man and woman were known to each other.
The man has been charged with murder (domestic violence) and is due to reappear before Townsville Magistrates Court on May 30, 2025.
Investigations are continuing.
