Detectives investigating the alleged homicide of a 31-year-old West Mackay woman at Koumala in August have charged a 17-year-old boy.
About 2.30pm on August 29, the body of a woman was located during a search operation for a missing person in the area.
Forensic tests identified the deceased as the 31-year-old woman who had been reported missing from the Koumala area on August 18.
Detectives from Mackay launched a homicide investigation code named Operation Amunet and made several appeals for public assistance over the following months.
The boy has been charged with one count of murder and remains in police custody.
