Police update 4: Missing Man, South Burnett

The search and rescue operation for missing 28-year-old man Luke Ferguson has entered its ninth day.

Together with aerial assets, police, Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel and State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers have searched hundreds of square kilometres for Luke, who was last seen leaving a Proston Abbeywood Road address on foot just after midday on Friday June 9.

Grave fears are held for Luke's welfare following successive sub-zero temperatures within the region, however efforts remain focused on the heavily wooded areas and dense undergrowth within a five kilometre radius of where he was last seen.

The search party consisting of twenty local landholders, forty ADF personnel and twenty-four SES volunteers and multiple police set out early this morning and will conclude at last light.

Three civilians on horse-back are traversing large open farm areas, multiple drones are also searching surrounding farmland with civilian and police dirt bikes.

ATV searches of nearby townships east of Proston and South of Kinleymore are also being conducted.

Locals are asked to search and re-check their properties and report any sightings of Luke.

He is described as Caucasian, approximately 175cm tall, with a proportionate build, brown hair and brown eyes.

Luke also has a medical condition and may appear disorientated.

Passing motorists who have provided Luke a lift, or seen him are urged to make contact.

Anyone with information about Luke's whereabouts is urged to contact police.

Police remain in close contact with Luke's family as the search and rescue operation continues.
