Police Update: Arson Charges At Aldershot

A 32-year-old man has been charged with arson following an investigation into a house fire in Aldershot yesterday, January 20.

It will be alleged, about 3pm, the 32-year-old Aldershot man has crashed a white Isuzu D-Max utility into a Sapphire Street property.

It will be further alleged, the man has deliberately lit the property on fire.

He was taken to hospital with minor burns.

No one else was physically injured during the incident.

The 32-year-old has been charged with one count each of arson, dangerous operation of a vehicle with prior conviction (domestic violence offence) and contravention of police protection notice.

He is expected to appear in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court today, January 21.

The investigation are ongoing.
