Police Update: Assault And Burglary At Murgon

Detectives from Murgon Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) and the State Flying Squad have charged two teenage boys in relation to a break and enter and serious assault in Murgon on January 15.

At approximately 10.20pm, a group gained entry to a property where an 80-year-old man and 76-year-old woman were assaulted.

The pair were transported to hospital in a stable condition.

Following extensive investigations, on January 28 detectives attended Cherbourg addresses where a 14-year-old boy and 15-year-old boy were taken into custody.

The 14-year-old boy has been charged with two counts each of grievous bodily harm, armed robbery in company, arson of a motor vehicle, enter dwelling and commit and one count each of attempted armed robbery, enter dwelling with intent by break at night in company, unlawful use of a motor vehicle at night in company, wilful damage and driving a motor vehicle without a licence.

The 15-year-old boy has been charged with two counts of grievous bodily harm and one count each of enter dwelling and commit and one count of wilful damage.

Both teenagers are expected to appear before Murgon Children's Court on February 20.

Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
