Detectives from the Caboolture Criminal Investigation Branch are continuing to appeal for public assistance to identify two people who may be able to assist with their investigations into the serious assault of a 70-year-old man in Elimbah on January 24.
Investigations indicate two men travelling north along Beerburrum Road in a light-coloured dual cab Toyota Hilux Ute have pulled over onto the side of the road around 6pm.
The pair have exited the vehicle and approached a 70-year-old man who was working at a roadside stall, before assaulting him until he was unconscious and leaving the scene in their car.
The man was transported to hospital with serious injuries.
It is believed the parties are not known to each other.
Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or may have been in the area at the time, including vehicles driving in the area, particularly between 5.30-6.30pm, who may have dashcam footage, to come forward.
The people shown in the footage, or anyone who recognises them, are urged to contact police.
Detective Acting Inspector Mick Hogan said investigations are ongoing.
"Two men have seriously assaulted a 70-year-old man and left him on the roadside," Detective Acting Inspector Hogan said.
"This is a horrendous assault and a cowardly act, and detectives will continue to work to identify and take action against those responsible.
"Even if you didn't witness the incident, we're urging people who may have been in the area at the time to review their dashcam footage or CCTV footage to assist us in identifying the men, or car used by the men."
