A man will face court today after being charged in relation to a crime spree through Sydney's south-west.
About 6.30am, yesterday (Tuesday 8 June 2021), police patrolling the Bow Bowing area observed a white Toyota Hilux with allegedly stolen number plates.
Officers attached to Campbelltown City Police Area Command tracked the vehicle for about half an hour; with a pursuit commencing on Airds Road, Leumeah, before being terminated a short time later.
PolAir monitored the vehicle as it travelled across south-west Sydney toward Burwood.
About 8am, the Hilux crashed through a boom-gate at a shopping centre car park on Burwood Road, before the driver fled on foot.
Police will allege the driver of the Hilux then entered a delivery van while the driver was unloading goods and drove away.
The 46-year-old man was arrested a short distance away and taken to Concord Hospital for observation.
Later that afternoon the man was discharged from hospital and returned to Burwood Police Station. He was charged with the following offences:
- Goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen x 2
- Drive conveyance without consent of owner
- Police pursuit second offence 2nd offence
- Drive manner dangerous 2nd offence
- Drive whilst disqualified 2nd offence
- Steal form motor vehicle
- Malicious damage
- Use class A vehicle with unauthorised number plate.
He was bail refused to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Wednesday 9 June 2021).
