Police Update: Charges - Operation Kedron

The Northern Territory Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team (JACET) have charged a man and woman with an additional 49 child exploitation offences in Darwin.

Operation Kedron was launched last year in response to received intelligence indicating child abuse offences were occurring in the greater Darwin area.

As a result of initial investigations, a 32-year-old man was arrested and charged in Farrar on 9 October 2024 , while a 29-year-old woman was also arrested and charged in Johnson on 22 October 2024.

Detectives have been continuing investigations since the arrests and have now charged the 32-year-old with an additional 30 child abuse offences. He is currently still in custody, expected to appear in Darwin Local Court on 29 January 2025.

The 29-year-old woman has now been charged with an additional 19 child abuse offences. She is currently still in custody, expected to appear in Darwin Local Court on 15 January 2025.

Commander Brendan Muldoon said "This has been an extensive operation that has uncovered some truly abhorrent behaviour.

"Five children, aged between four and eight, have been removed from harm, and for their safety and privacy, police will not be releasing any further identifying information.

"JACET detectives will be alleging the 32 and 29-year-olds, who are known to each other, were planning further offending. I commend the entire JACET team for their tireless work in investigating these offences and removing these alleged offenders from the community before more children were harmed."

Members of the public who have any information about people involved in child abuse and exploitation are urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or https://crimestoppers.com.au/.
