Police have charged a man and a woman after a bus was allegedly stolen and driven dangerously through Townsville last night.
The bus was allegedly stolen from a property on Woodstock-Giru Road, south of Townsville, sometime after 5pm.
The bus was allegedly driven erratically along the Bruce Highway around 8pm before it was intercepted at a shopping centre on MacArthur Drive at Annandale a short time later.
A man and woman, the only occupants of the bus, refused to exit the bus and while forcing entry, a police officer was injured.
A 27-year-old Cairns man has been charged with a total of nine offences, including enter premises with intent to commit an offence, unlawful use and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, evading police, serious assault of a police officer, driving under the influence and while disqualified.
The 31-year-old Richmond Hill woman has been charged with one count each of enter premises with intent to commit an offence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and serious assault of a police officer.
The pair will appear in Townsville Magistrates Court today.
