Police are appealing for assistance from the public following an incident where a 19-year-old man was fatally struck by a vehicle on the Kennedy Highway at Mareeba yesterday.
Initial investigations indicate at around 11.55am, the man was struck by a gold Peugeot hatchback when he was walking across the Kennedy Highway near the Davies Creek turn off.
The crash occurred on the Cairns side of the overtaking lanes.
Any motorists with dash cam footage who were travelling on the highway in either direction between 11.30am and 11.55am are urged to contact police.
Police are also appealing for anyone who observed either a man on the side of the road at that time, or a gold hatchback 1999 model Peugeot travelling from Mareeba to Cairns, to also come forward.
