Police have charged a man with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death following a fatal traffic crash at Mirani on March 20.
It will be alleged a four-wheel-drive was stationary on a driveway to a property off Mackay Eungella Road when it was struck by a white Mitsubishi sedan travelling west around 7.50pm.
The driver and sole occupant of the four-wheel-drive, a 35-year-old Mirani man, suffered significant injuries as a result of the collision and died at the scene.
The driver of the sedan, a 34-year-old East Mackay man, was transported to the Mackay Base Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Following ongoing investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit, a 34-year-old man was today charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death whilst excessively speeding, driving unliciensed, driving uninsured, driving unregistered, driving of a motor vehicle other than as allowed under an interlock condition, stealing and receiving tainted property.
He is due to appear in Mackay Magistrates Court on July 14.
