Investigations are continuing following a fatal crash in the Wollongong area yesterday.
About 1.50pm (Friday 16 February 2024), emergency services were called to Lawrence Hargrave Drive, Thirroul, following reports a truck and an SUV had been involved in a collision.
Two male passengers in the truck were ejected. A 43-year-old man died at the scene while a 40-year-old man was treated by paramedics at the scene before being airlifted to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.
The truck driver, a 39-year-old man, was also treated and airlifted to Westmead Hospital where he underwent surgery.
The BMW driver, a 40-year-old woman was freed by Fire and Rescue and airlifted to St George Hospital in a critical condition.
Officers attached to Wollongong Police District established a crime scene which was forensically examined by specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.
An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the crash and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
