Two teenage boys have been dealt with under the Young Offenders Act following inquiries into a large structural fire at a disused hospital in the state's Southern Tablelands last weekend.
About 4.45pm on Saturday 16 October 2021, emergency services were called to a hospital at Taralga Road, Goulburn, following reports of a building fire.
Fire & Rescue NSW attended and after five hours, successfully extinguished the blaze.
The building was completely destroyed, with the damage valued at more than $500,000.
The hospital was unoccupied at the time and no injuries were reported.
Officers from The Hume Police District commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire.
Following inquiries, two boys – aged 13 and 14 – attended Goulburn Police Station this week.
The boys will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act for destroy property in company using fire and enter enclosed lands.
