A man will face court today on an attempt murder charge following a stabbing during an altercation between neighbours in Sydney's south-west.
About 8.45pm (Wednesday 4 December 2019), two male residents of a unit complex on Middleton Road, Leumeah, became involved in a violent altercation in a communal area of the building.
During the incident, one of the men, aged 50, retrieved a machete from his unit, before allegedly stabbing the other man, aged 37, several times in the neck and body.
Witnesses intervened and the man returned to his unit with the weapon.
Emergency services were contacted and the younger man was taken to Liverpool Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
Police from Campbelltown Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.
The older man was arrested and taken to Campbelltown Police Station, where he was charged with attempt murder.
He was bail refused to appear at Campbelltown Local Court today (Thursday 5 December 2019).
