Two men have been charged following a series of alleged incidents including armed robberies which occurred between the Gold Coast and Alligator Creek, south of Townsville on September 5 and 6.
Police will allege at 12.20pm on September 6, two men in a silver sedan approached a drive-through bottle shop on Broad Street, Sarina. One man wearing a fishing mask, exited the vehicle and allegedly threatened an employee with a tyre iron and demanded money.
The man allegedly took a sum of money and liquor before re-entering the sedan and driving away.
At approximately 3pm, two men approached the owner of a white Mitsubishi Triton while it was parked on the corner of Argyle Park Road and Duke Street, Bowen. The men allegedly threatened the owner before entering the Triton and driving away.
About 4.20pm, a 30-year-old Woodridge man was arrested by police at a property at Salisbury Plains.
At 5.40pm, on the Bruce Highway at Cromarty, Burdekin, a man allegedly broke into a house and demanded the keys to the resident's vehicle. The resident complied, and the man continued north along the Bruce Highway in the stolen blue Volkswagen Tiguan.
At 5.50pm, police successfully deployed a tyre deflation device at the Alligator Creek Bridge, Alligator Creek, stopping the vehicle.
Police will further allege the 30-year-old Woodridge man was also involved in an armed robbery at a grocery store at Dreamworld Parkway at Coomera September 5.
Around 4.40pm on Sunday, September 5, a man allegedly entered the business and produced a screwdriver threatening the 25-year-old male store attendant before stealing money from the till and a set of car keys. It is alleged the attendant's car was then stolen by the offender.
A 29-year-old Manoora man has been charged with four counts of evading police, two counts each of armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and one count each of driving without a licence and entering a dwelling with intent. He is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court today.
A 30-year-old Woodridge man has been charged with four counts of stealing, three counts each of evading police and unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of wilful damage, armed robbery, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and attempted robbery. He is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court today.
