Queensland Police would like to remind residents of upcoming road closures, water exclusion zones and restricted airspace scheduled for the Gold Coast Pacific Airshow.
The event will take place over three days, from Friday, August 16 to Sunday, August 18, 2024.
Surfers Paradise beach will be the hub for the event with road closures on the Esplanade. The Pacific Airshow will operate using restricted airspace approved by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). This restricted airspace will encompass a five (5) nautical mile area over Surfers Paradise.
There will also be a declared enforceable Water Exclusion Zone in the Coral Sea opposite Cavill Mall. This is from Clifford Street through to the Macintosh Island Park at Narrow Neck.
Police have been working with the all-emergency services, the City of Gold Coast and the Pacific Airshow to ensure the event is conducted safely and with minimum disruption.
Motorists are urged to avoid traveling along the Esplanade, Surfers Paradise over the three-day event due to diversions that will be in place. Delays can be expected by motorists.
"Approximately 100 officers will be policing the 3-day event to minimise disruption to local residents and businesses as much as possible," Senior Sergeant Des Hearn said.
Motorists can expect delays and traffic congestion as road closures are implemented.
During the event, from Friday, August 16 to Sunday, August 18, 2024, a full road closure will occur on The Esplanade from the Soul building roundabout to Clifford Street.
Police thank motorists for their patience during these disruptions.
