The Kirwan Police Station is closed today as investigations continue into a fatal police shooting overnight.
At approximately 10pm, a 46-year-old Cranbrook man entered the Kirwan Police Station armed with a knife and threatened officers.
Police shot the man and immediately rendered first aid, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A crime scene was declared at the Kirwan Police Station which remains in place today.
The Kirwan Police Station remains accessible to the public today in an altered capacity with additional police present to assist the community with any inquiries.

Investigations are continuing today which include the review of body worn vision and CCTV from the station.
The Ethical Standards Command is investigating the incident on behalf of the State Coroner, with the investigation subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
