Police Update: Police Involved Shooting At Toowoomba

A 45-year-old man has been charged following an incident at North Toowoomba on Monday, August 5.

Police attended a residential property on Ruthven Street around 4.40pm in relation to a man wanted for questioning.

It is alleged that upon arrival a man armed with a knife came at police.

As a result, he was shot in the chest and transported to Toowoomba Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The man is currently in a stable condition and is receiving treatment at Toowoomba Hospital.

He has been charged with four counts of serious assault police officer whilst armed with a weapon, two counts of contravention of a domestic violence offence (aggravated offence), and one count each of wounding (domestic violence offence), common assault and assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed (domestic violence offence).

Legal Representatives are appearing in the Toowoomba Magistrates Courts on August 9 on behalf of the man.

Two officers received minor injuries and have been released from hospital.

The Ethical Standards Command is investigating with the investigation subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
